Context
Freelancers on Upwork want to see a matching job the moment it is posted, and they want a cover letter ready before a competitor has finished reading the brief. UpAlerts is our answer to both. It is a product we built and run ourselves, so every part of it is ours to show.
What we built
- Job alerts matched to each user's keywords, delivered through the web app, push notifications, WhatsApp, and webhooks.
- Native apps on the App Store and Google Play, sharing one backend with the web app.
- An AI assistant inside the product with long-term memory, web search, voice input, and a knowledge base the user can extend.
- Back-office automation in n8n: a scheduled pipeline grades alert quality with a language model under a per-user cost cap, daily growth reports post to Slack, and a global error handler reports any failed workflow before a user notices.
The stack: Supabase for the database, auth, and edge functions; Vercel for hosting; the Claude API for the AI features; Firebase Crashlytics for crash reporting.
Outcome
UpAlerts has more than 50,000 users across the web app and the mobile apps, and the alert pipeline and its monitoring run unattended.
